Spring/Summer Season

The goal of Stars Baseball is to offer a competitive program with exceptional learning and development at a reasonable cost.  Please find a breakdown of the Stars Baseball vision below:

Fundamentals:

  • Stars Baseball will offer a competitive baseball option for athletes within the Airdrie and surrounding areas
  • Stars Baseball will incorporate paid coaches to supplement the development each athlete receives
  • Stars Baseball, as a member association within Baseball Alberta, will represent Airdrie in league play and in select tournaments
  • Stars Baseball understands athletes are often involved in more than one sport and will work to accommodate activity conflicts without penalty
  • Stars Baseball will select athletes based on ability, attitude and fit.  It is important all athletes and families are aligned in the vision for the team to ensure a successful experience

Model:

  • Stars Baseball will begin indoor training as soon as early-February, then transition to outdoor practices as the weather allows
  • Paid coaches will run certain practices during the season to supplement and guide our parent volunteers
    • Aside form U18, paid coaches will not travel with the team for games, but are rather in place to drive baseball fundamentals, development and game IQ
  • Regular Season practices will be hosted during the evening two days per week with occasional weekend practices should games not otherwise be scheduled
  • Within Baseball Alberta, teams can expect 20+ games
  • Athletes and families should expect to travel for games (tournament weekends usually host 3 - 4 games per weekend)
  • Parent volunteers will be crucial to the success of the teams - from coaching, to managers to statistic trackers, field prep, etc. parents will be expected to participate in the success of the season
  • The Baseball Alberta Season runs as follows for all age groups, U11 - U18:
    • Games start early May
    • Provincials (end of season): end of July, beginning of August
  • Stars Baseball is competitive baseball.  Players will have equitable play time and will play multiple positions through the early stages of the season, but come Provincials, players will have more defined roles and those players who demonstrate a hard-work ethic, positive attitude, good sportsmanship, understanding of the game, high complete level and advanced skill will receive more field time than others.

Cost:

  • Stars Baseball aims to be all-inclusive of anticipated costs, that is all league fees, apparel, practice fields, umpires, one tournament, etc. will be covered by the upfront cost.  The only fundraising a team may elect to do is to cover for additional tournaments.
  • Stars Baseball will provide athletes with:
    • jerseys (home and away)
    • hat
    • hoodie
    • shorts
    • socks
    • belt
    • undershirt
    • windbreaker
  • White ball pants will be required, but not supplied
  • The anticipated season cost for U11 - U13 is approximately $1300 and for U15-U18 will be $1600 (paid coach, U15 TBD) and will change should the teams wish to participate in extra tournaments.  Upon offer letters being distributed, the season cost breakdown will be provided (new player apparel package including jerseys, practice shirts, belt, hat, short and hoodie will be an additional $600, approximately)
